Pilates and Cardio
So many clients ask us whether they should supplement their Pilates lessons with cardiovascular exercise. The answer is yes! As always, you should check with your doctor first to make sure that you are healthy enough for exercise.
Although Pilates, when practiced at an intermediate to advanced level, will definitely get your heart rate up and become cardiovascular, you should supplement with additional cardiovascular exercise to achieve and maintain optimal health and fitness.
If you want to lose weight and get into better shape you will achieve your goals faster, if you do cardio in addition to Pilates. It can be as simple as taking a walk a few days a week, going hiking, running, taking a spinning class, dancing around your living room, doing Zumba, boxing etc…
